Departed Merit - W.Bro. David John Winder G.Stwd., RAMGR, APGM

It is with very great sadness that I have to inform you of the passing of Brother David to the Grand Lodge Above.
David ended his short battle with his illness at 22:25 on Thursday 21st December 2023 and will be so sadly missed by us all.
The Provincial Grand Master, his Executive and all the brethren of the Province extend their sincere condolences to Sue, Debbie and the family.
Our hearts truly go out to them.

The funeral service for W.Bro. David will take place on Friday 12th January at 10:30am at St Paul’s Church, Church Lane, Farington Moss, Preston, PR26 6RD followed by a committal at Preston Crematorium attended by family.

Family flowers only and the dress code is traditional black.

David was a committed Freemason and, as was the pattern of everything David did in life, he excelled as a mason. He achieved very high rank; uniquely attaining Assistant Provincial Grand Master in Craft and Mark and Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals in The Holy Royal Arch.  He was a positive influence and a valued mentor to so many Freemasons and was immensely popular among his peers.

David was an Inspector of Police with The Lancashire Constabulary as well as a successful sportsman.

He was also a true, loyal, and well-beloved friend to so many.

It is therefore envisaged that the funeral will be very well attended

David was pivotal in the charitable endeavors of Freemasons in West Lancashire and therefore, any donations in lieu of flowers, would be gratefully received and faithfully applied by The Masonic Charitable Foundation, care of Martin’s Funeral Directors, Tulketh Brow, Preston. PR2 2JJ.

With great sadness and kindest regards,
Mike Pinckard
Provincial Grand Secretary
